E J-yong south-korean filmmaker came to Budapest last week for the 11th Korean Film Festival, where 4 of his films could be seen by the hungarian audience. Taking the opportunity, he not only spoke to the students at our english filmmaking course, but he also attended a Korean film history course led by Teréz Vincze, where students were asking him about his works and the contemporary korean film.
We also learned from him that he knew Hungarian films – according to him, the works of István Szabó and Miklós Jancsó had a great impact on him when he was a student in Film School. Considering the contemporary hungarian cinema, he was impressed especially by Son of Saul.
