Péter Kárpáti

Assistant professor

Péter Kárpáti graduated in Dramaturgy from the University of Theatre and Film Arts in 1983. He obtained his DLA degree there and habilitated in 2020. He also taught there for 20 years. Currently he is the head of the only Hungarian language master’s programme in playwriting at the University of Arts Târgu-Mureş. He is also one of the founders of Freeszfe. He is a dramaturg, playwright and since 2009 he has been directing his own plays. He has had numerous theatre premieres in Hungary and abroad. Creator of the so-called long improvisation and story development technique. He has been awarded the Attila József Prize. His plays have been published in four volumes, and a monograph on his career has been compiled under the title Színházíró. A collection of his life’s work was published in 2023 under the title Térkép a túlvilágról.
