The first ELTE Szemle will take place between 1 and 3 May, showcasing films made by students of the Film Department at ELTE. The aim of the event is to give visibility to the works of ELTE film students and to the workshop work that could shape the future of Hungarian cinema. Also, the festival aims to create a tradition, as we as organisers believe that such an event could have an important place in the cultural life of Budapest.

The selected films will be screened in blocks on 1 and 2 May. The festival will also include round table discussions and various workshops. There is also a desire to hold a student forum on the future of film studies at ELTE. The venue for these two days will be the Itt és Most Community Space in Ráday Street, with technical support from Mindenki Mozija.

On 3 May, the best films selected by the jury will be screened at the Puskin Cinema in a BEST OF screening. The jury is composed of prominent representatives of the Hungarian film industry: the chairman is Hajni Kis, with members Bálint Szimler, Lili Walters, Zsófia Paczolay and Péter Lehr Juhász.

The ELTE Szemle is open to all, and the programmes will be free of charge. The detailed programme will be announced in the second half of April.

ELTE film students have until 29 March to submit their films.
